TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 18, 2022) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball team had a down day on Friday, getting swept in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
Facing the College of Southern Idaho, SLCC posted losses of 11-0 and 14-6 in a pair of games at Norma Carr Field. The day's actions level Salt Lake at 12-8 overall and 10-5 in Scenic West games.
SLCC and CSI will play another doubleheader on Saturday.
Southern Idaho 11, Salt Lake 0: SLCC mustered only three hits in a run-rule loss to CSI.
Josee Haycock was 2-of-2 at the plate, leading the Bruins.
Southern Idaho 14, Salt Lake 6: A 12-run sixth inning lifted CSI to the doubleheader sweep.
It was Salt Lake who jumped out to the early lead, thanks to
Josee Haycock hitting a grand-slam home run in the second inning to give the Bruins an early 4-0 lead.
Hola Nakayama then added to the lead with a sacrifice fly RBI in the fifth inning to up the advantage to 5-2, proceeded by Southern Idaho scoring 12 runs in the sixth inning.
Nakayama went 2-of-2 at the plate in the game for Salt Lake.
