TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 14, 2022) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball team had a grand entrance to its opening series at Norma Carr Field Monday.

SLCC, hosting a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader with Colorado Northwestern, swept the day's play with victories of 8-1 and 14-0. The Bruins are now 10-6 overall and 8-3 in Scenic West play.

Salt Lake and Colorado Northwestern will play another doubleheader on Tuesday.

Salt Lake 8, Colorado Northwestern 1: A bevy of extra-base hits lifted the Bruins to a strong victory.

Allie Laub hit a two-run double in the third inning, followed up by
Hola Nakayama hitting a three-run home run later to give SLCC a 5-0 lead. Nakayama then added an RBI single in the fifth inning, followed up by a
Josee Haycock double in the sixth inning.

Nakayama was a perfect 3-of-3 in the game, posting four RBI's in the win.
Bailey Frischknecht earned the win, posting 12 strikeouts.

Salt Lake 14, Colorado Northwestern 0: SLCC's offense erupted early in the game, part of a run-rule victory.Â

Allie Laub hit a two-run home run in the first inning, followed up by
Josee Haycock hitting a solo home run in the second inning to lift the Bruins to a 4-0 lead.
Hola Nakayama added an RBI double in the third inning, then Brooklyn Pinegar hit a three-run shot to right-center field to give SLCC a 10-0 lead. SLCC scored nine runs in the fourth inning.

Macie McPhie went 3-of-4 at the plate to lead Salt Lake, while
Jayci Finch earned the win in a complete-game victory. Finch posted five strikeouts in the victory.Â
