BRUINS! – No. 1 SLCC Men’s Basketball downs Snow, earns Region 18 crown

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 26, 2022) – Two goals down, two goals to go.

The No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team had four preseason goals – 1) win the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season title, 2) win the Region 18 tournament championship, 3) qualify to the NJCAA Tournament, 4) win the NJCAA Tournament. As the Bruins sit Saturday, the first and second goals are completed, with the others lying in wait. SLCC earned a 95-61 win over Snow College on Saturday in the Region 18 championship game at the Lifetime Activities Center, capturing their second region title in three years. Salt Lake is now 31-1.

The Bruins wasted little time in setting the expectations for the game, rolling to a 48-30 win over halftime and shooting 62.5 percent in the first half (20-of-32). Salt Lake never trailed in the game, leading by as many as 38 points midway through the second half.

SLCC's defense made a stout impact on the game, limiting Snow to just 34.4 percent shooting and a 6-of-24 performance from three-point range. The Bruins also forced 17 turnovers.

Chase Adams finished with 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting to lead Salt Lake. Festus Ndumanya posted 17 points on a perfect 7-of-7 performance from the field, then Max Watson scored 14 points.

The Bruins will now await their opponent in next week's NJCAA West District championship game, which will be played in Arizona.
