TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 16, 2022) – All good things must come to an end, even the NJCAA's longest winning streak.
The No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball program suffered its first loss of the 2021-22 season, falling at No. 23 Southern Idaho in the final road game of the year, 74-70. The Bruins are now 28-1 overall and 17-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
In a game that was marked by defense, SLCC shot just 37.7 percent in the game, going just 5-of-24 from three-point range and only 13-of-25 from the free-throw line. The game featured seven lead changes, albeit with the Bruins never leading by more than three points late in the second half.
Quincy McGriff scored 18 points to lead Salt Lake, while
Jordan Brinson finished with 13 points.
Jaquan Scott scored 12 points in the loss.
Salt Lake will host Colorado Northwestern on Saturday in a 'Sophomore Day' game to close the regular season. The Bruins have already clinched the top spot in next week's Region 18 championships, which will be played inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
