TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 19, 2022) – The No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team responded to its first loss of the season in the best possible way on Saturday – with a victory.
SLCC earned a 160-65 win over Colorado Northwestern Community College on 'Sophomore Day', moving to 3-0 on the season against the Spartans. The Bruins are now 29-1 overall and 18-1 in Scenic West games with the victory, setting the program up with the top seed in next week's Region 18 championships.
Salt Lake led from the beginning, powering to a 75-28 lead at halftime. SLCC finished the game with a mark of 60.8 percent shooting, forcing 37 turnovers and scoring 60 points off those turnovers. The Bruins went 23-of-34 from three-point range in the win.
SLCC had ten players finish in double-figures, with both
Quincy McGriff and
Chase Adams leading the way with 20 points each.
Max Watson and
Jordan Brinson both posted 18 points, while
Jaxon Pollard finished with 17 points.
Doctor Bradley posted 16 points and
Cade Brazier had 11 points.
Jaquan Scott,
Marion Humphrey and
Jackson Last all finished with 10 points.
Salt Lake will open the Region 18 championships on Thursday. The tournament is being played inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
