TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 6, 2021) - The No. 17 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team returned from a long break in disappointing fashion Thursday.
SLCC, playing its first game since late December, dropped a Scenic West Athletic Conference decision to Snow College, falling 63-61 on a last-second shot. The loss drops the Bruins to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in Scenic West play, breaking what had been an 11-game winning streak for Salt Lake.
It was SLCC who took a narrow 18-15 lead at halftime, prior to Snow going on a 20-8 run in the second quarter to garner a 35-26 halftime lead. Salt Lake clawed back throughout the second half, even taking a 58-55 lead with 3:30 remaining off a
Naelle Bernard three-point shot. Bernard hit another critical three late in the game, tying the score at 61-61 with 10 seconds remaining. Snow's Passion Reitz scored the game-winning layup in the final seconds.
Bernard led SLCC with 20 points, while
Ashton Adamson and
Finau Tonga both posted 8 points apiece. Nexss Ngakosso and
Diarrah Sissoko also scored 7 points apiece.
Salt Lake will return to play on Jan. 12, traveling to play at the College of Southern Idaho.Â
