TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 19, 2022) – An extended layoff did little to deter the No. 23 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team Wednesday.
Â
SLCC earned a comeback road win at the College of Southern Nevada, coming off a week of COVID-related cancellations to find a 64-58 victory over the Lady Coyotes. The win lifts the Bruins to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in Scenic West play.
Â
The effects of not playing for over a week showed in SLCC's start, with CSN taking a 30-25 lead at halftime after limiting the Bruins to just 10-of-32 shooting. Trailing 41-40 entering the fourth quarter, Salt Lake went on to outscore CSN in the final quarter, 24-17, and went 4-of-4 at the three-point line.
Â
Naelle Bernard led the Bruins throughout the win, finishing with 24 points on 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range.
Finau Tonga posted 11 points, while
Hennessey Luu-Brown also scored 10 points.
Â
The Bruins will return home Saturday to host in-state rival USU Eastern. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
