TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 31, 2022) - At this point in the season, there are only so many words to describe the play of the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball program.
Some of the words could be: dominant, impressive, inspiring, perfect. All are accurate, particularly with the Bruins earning a 141-82 win over Community Christian College in a Scenic West home game Monday. However, the word that best fits SLCC after the night was 'champions', as Salt Lake clinched the SWAC regular season title with a mark of 14-0. The Bruins are 25-0 overall.Â
While the result of the night was victory, Salt Lake certainly made things interesting in the first half as Community Christian outshot the Bruins from the field. SLCC's aggressiveness in the paint made the difference throughout the night though, as Salt Lake went 28-of-37 from the line compared to CCC's 14-of-23. The Bruins shot 66.67 percent in the second half (34-of-51).
SLCC had nine different players finish in double-figures in the game, led by
Quincy McGriff's 22 points.
Doctor Bradley scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, with
Marion Humphrey posting 15 points.
Chase Adams had 13 points and
Jaxon Pollard had 10 points, with all five starters finishing in double figures. Several bench players also scored well for the Bruins, including
Jordan Brinson (16 points),
Tanner Cuff (15 points), and
Jackson Last and
Max Watson (14 points).
Salt Lake will travel to play at in-state rival USU Eastern on Saturday.Â
