TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 29, 2022) – A battle of NJCAA Top-10 programs culminated in an impressive victory for the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team.

The Bruins earned a 71-61 win over No. 8 Southern Idaho, staying unbeaten and moving to 2-0 over the Golden Eagles on the season. Salt Lake is now 25-0 overall and 12-0 in Scenic West play after the win.

In a tough battle between the Scenic West rivals, it was Southern Idaho who took a narrow 34-33 halftime lead after leading by as many as 8 points midway through the first half. Salt Lake picked up its defense in the second half, limiting the Golden Eagles to just 38.1 percent shooting (8-of-21). SLCC forced 23 turnovers in the game, scoring 31 points off those turnovers. The Bruins also held a 22-9 edge in bench points.Â

SLCC's scoring was balanced, with
Chase Adams and
Jackson Last both leading the Bruins with 14 points. Last went 4-of-6 from three-point range.
Doctor Bradley posted 13 points, while
Jordan Brinson had 10 points.Â

Salt Lake will host Community Christian in a rare Monday game. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at the Lifetime Activities Center.
