TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 22, 2022) – Home was indeed sweet for the No. 23 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team in a Scenic West Athletic Conference home game Saturday.
Facing in-state rival USU Eastern, Salt Lake earned a close 49-43 win over the Lady Eagles, finishing a 2-0 week in Scenic West play. Thanks to the win, SLCC is now 14-3 overall and sitting at 6-1 in Scenic West games.
Strong defense was the name of the game plan for both teams, with the Bruins holding USU Eastern to just 28.6 percent shooting. SLCC shot just 29.5 percent from the field, but where Salt Lake made its name was in efficiency (only 8 turnovers) and bench points (21 points). The Bruins led by as many as 12 points late in the game.
Hennessey Luu-Brown finished with 13 points to lead Salt Lake, while
Finau Tonga scored 11 points.
Naelle Bernard posted 10 points in the win.
The Bruins will host the College of Southern Nevada on Thursday at the Lifetime Activities Center.
