TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 6, 2021) – The Salt Lake Community College baseball team opened a pivotal Scenic West Athletic Conference series with a win Thursday.

SLCC earned a 7-0 win over No. 17 Southern Nevada, opening a four-game series with momentum. The victory boosts the Bruins to 29-14 overall and 22-7 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, with Salt Lake needing to go 3-1 in the series to claim the outright regular-season title.

The Bruins took advantage at the plate early, with
Dalton Hodge hitting a solo home run to give SLCC a lead in the third inning.
Karson Bodily added an RBI double later in the inning, with
Sean Keating hitting a solo home run in the fifth inning to lift SLCC to a 4-0 lead. Other notable SLCC at-bats included
Braden Winget hitting an RBI single in the fifth inning and
Zachary Blaszak hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Keating and Bodily were both a team-high 3-of-5 at the plate, with Winget going 2-of-3.
Fynn Chester had a strong pitching performance, throwing a complete game while finishing with nine strikeouts.Â

Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will play a doubleheader on Friday, with the first game starting at 2:00 p.m. at Cate Field in West Jordan. Â
