TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 15, 2021) - Just nine innings from advancement, the No. 20 Salt Lake Community College baseball team is now in jeopardy of their season no longer continuing.
The Bruins, who entered Saturday's Region 18 tournament championship games as the lone winners' bracket team remaining, were downed by host Southern Nevada in the two games of the day. SLCC lost a 21-11 decision to start the day, with the Bruins also falling in a 16-12 battle in the decision game of the series.Â
Salt Lake is 33-17 overall with the losses.
Southern Nevada 21, Salt Lake 11: CSN scored 13 runs in the opening frame of the day, setting the tone for the day's results.Â
Notable SLCC highlights included a pair of
Chase Peterson two-run home runs, along with a
Braden Winget two-run home run. Peterson was a team-best 2-of-3 at the plate, while he and
Sean Keating both posted four RBI's.Â
Southern Nevada 16, Salt Lake 12: Another early Coyotes run lifted CSN to the region title.
Bruer Webster was 4-of-6 in the loss to lead Salt Lake.Â
