No. 2 SLCC Softball finishes Snow sweep on 'Sophomore Day'

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 1, 2021) – A lovely spring Saturday on the Wasatch Front saw the No. 2 Salt Lake Community College softball team celebrate its annual 'Sophomore Day', while also sweeping through an in-state rival.

The Bruins earned a pair of wins over Snow College to close a four-game series Saturday, picking up wins by scores of 13-4 and 19-9. The victories lift Salt Lake to 44-2 overall and 34-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, sending SLCC into the final week of the season on a ten-game winning streak.

Salt Lake will close the regular season with a four-game series next weekend at the College of Southern Nevada.

Salt Lake 13, Snow 4: An early Snow lead did little to deter SLCC in the victory.

After the Lady Badgers took an early 2-0 lead, SLCC responded in the second inning with a Brylee Marziale-Hill two-run single. Then in the third inning, Marziale-Hill posted an RBI single to up SLCC's lead to 6-3, with Josee Haycock hitting a three-run home run minutes later to put the game out of reach.

Kaytlyn Cripps hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, with Rylee Harris adding a two-run home later in the frame.

Cripps was a perfect 3-of-3 at the plate, while Rylie Bennet went 3-of-4. Nya Laing earned the pitching win, picking up a pair of strikeouts in five innings.

Salt Lake 19, Snow 9: Early power boosted the Bruins to a series sweep.
