TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 3, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College baseball team closed off a Scenic West Athletic Conference series in style Saturday, earning a strong win over a nationally-ranked opponent.
The Bruins picked up a 14-8 win over No. 10 Southern Nevada, finishing the series at 3-1 against the Scenic West leaders. The wins boost SLCC to 15-13 overall and 10-6 in Scenic West play.
Southern Nevada took an early lead before SLCC's offense turned on in the third inning, with
Braden Winget hitting a two-run double to boost Salt Lake to a 5-1 lead.
Travis Johnson added a two-run home run in the fourth inning for Salt Lake. Other offensive highlights for the Bruins included a three-run home run by
Dalton Hodge in the eighth inning.
Hodge went 3-of-4 at the plate to lead Salt Lake, finishing with a team-high four RBI's.
Bruer Webster was 4-of-5 at the plate. SLCC pitcher
Spencer Jones earned the pitching win, throwing five innings in the start and striking out seven CSN batters.
Salt Lake will travel to play at Colorado Northwestern for four games next weekend.
