No. 1 SLCC Softball sweeps through Southern Nevada

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 3, 2021) -  A day after experiencing their first loss of the season, the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College softball team responded with a pair of strong wins.

The Bruins earned victories of 9-8 and 15-4 over the College of Southern Nevada, earning a series victory with a 3-1 mark against the Lady Coyotes. The victories boost SLCC to 29-1 and 19-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Salt Lake will host Colorado Northwestern Community College in a four-game series next weekend at Norma Carr Field.

Salt Lake 9, Southern Nevada 8: A Brylee Marziale-Hill walk-off single lifted the Bruins to a narrow win in game one.

Bailee Noland hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning that lifted Salt Lake to an early 4-2 lead, but CSN responded with multiple home runs in the sixth inning. Noland hit another two-run home run in the sixth inning but CSN scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, setting up the Marziale-Hill theatrics.

Noland went 3-of-5 at the plate to lead Salt Lake. Alyssa Millemon earned the pitching victory, throwing two innings of relief.

Salt Lake 15, Southern Nevada 4: SLCC closed the four-game series with a run-rule victory.

The Bruins posted six runs in the first inning, with Rylee Harris starting the scoring with a two-run home run. CSN came back with home runs in the second and third inning to cut the deficit, but the Bruins responded with five runs in the third inning to effectively end the game. SLCC hit seven home runs in the wins.

Harris was 3-of-4 at the plate to lead Salt Lake.
