TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 23, 2021) – The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College softball team opened a home Scenic West Athletic Conference series with a doubleheader sweep Friday.

SLCC downed USU Eastern in a pair of games at Norma Carr Field, earning wins of 15-2 and 7-3. The victories boost Salt Lake to 38-2 overall and 28-2 in Scenic West play. SLCC has also clinched the league's regular-season title with the day's results.

Salt Lake and USU Eastern will play another doubleheader Saturday.

Salt Lake 15, USU Eastern 2: Early offensive power lifted the Bruins to a strong win.

Rylie Bennett hit a solo home run in the first inning to give SLCC a boost, with Salt Lake scoring in each of their four innings at the plate. SLCC scored nine runs in the fourth inning, keyed by a Rylee Harris three-run double.
Kaylee Pierce also hit a two-run double in the inning.

Savanna Montoya and
Rylie Bennett both went 2-of-3 at the plate, scoring a team-high three runs apiece. Rylee Harris posted a team-high four RBI's.
Bailey Frischknecht earned the win, striking out four batters.Â

Salt Lake 7, USU Eastern 3: A five-run fourth inning helped SLCC earn the win.

The Bruins hit four home runs in the pivotal fourth inning. Brylee Marziale hit a two-run home run, followed up by
Josee Haycock's solo home run.
Mercedes Call and
Rylie Bennett both added solo shots in the frame.Â

Haycock was 2-of-3 at the plate to lead Salt Lake.
Alyssa Millemon earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game while striking out five batters.Â
