TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 2, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College baseball team had a stellar outing Friday, downing one of the nation's best programs in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Bruins earned a doubleheader sweep over the College of Southern Nevada, posting wins of 3-0 and 4-1 against the No. 10 Coyotes. The victories lift Salt Lake's overall record to 14-13, with a mark of 9-6 in Scenic West play.
Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will play the series finale on Saturday.
Salt Lake 3, Southern Nevada 0: An early start and consistent offense lifted the Bruins to a strong win.
SLCC posted a run in the top of the first inning, with
Bruer Webster scoring on an error.
Travis Johnson posted an RBI single in the third inning, while Webster hit an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Webster finished 2-of-4 at the plate to lead Salt Lake.
Jake Wilson earned the pitching win, throwing five innings and striking out three batters.
Salt Lake 4, Southern Nevada 1: Early hits once again boosted SLCC to a victory.
Sean Keating hit an RBI double to put Salt Lake on the board in the first inning, with
Karson Bodily adding to the advantage later in the inning with an RBI single. Bodily hit another RBI single in the fifth inning, with
Dalton Hodge getting an RBI on a fielder's choice in the seventh inning.
Bodily was 3-of-3 at the plate in the win, while Keating went 2-of-4.
Breck Eichelberger earned the pitching victory.Â
