TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 18, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College baseball team closed a Scenic West Athletic Conference series with a strong win Sunday.
SLCC earned a 10-2 victory over Southern Idaho in a series finale at Cate Field, earning a 3-1 series win over the Golden Eagles. The Bruins are now 24-14 with the win, boosting to 17-7 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Salt Lake started well offensively, scoring four runs in the second inning to take an early 4-0 lead. A two-run single by
Dalton Hodge and a
Sean Keating RBI double keyed the strong inning for SLCC.
Zachary Blaszak added to the Bruin advantage with a two-run single in the third inning. Hodge provided the knockout punch in the win, hitting a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Blaszak led SLCC with a perfect 4-of-4 performance at the plate, finishing with a pair of RBI's. Hodge went 3-of-4 with a team-high 4 RBI's.
Spencer Jones earned the pitching win for Salt Lake, finishing with six strikeouts and surrendering a single run.Â
Salt Lake will travel to face USU Eastern in a four-game series this weekend.Â
