TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 10, 2021) – The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College softball team enjoyed a warm weekend at home, with SLCC's win total being the only thing blooming more fiercely than the Wasatch Front foliage.

SLCC swept a doubleheader against Colorado Northwestern, earning victories of 22-6 and 16-1 to move to 8-0 against the Lady Spartans this season. Salt Lake is now 33-1 overall and 23-1 in Scenic West play.

Salt Lake will travel to play at Southern Idaho next weekend.

Salt Lake 22, Colorado Northwestern 6: Several big innings lifted SLCC to a run-rule win in the day's opening game.

Savannah Heaton hit a three-run home run early on to boost SLCC, while
Rylie Bennett added a two-run home run in the third inning. Bennett hit two home runs in the third inning, with Heaton also adding another home run in the frame.
Hola Nakayama also hit a solo home run in the second inning.Â

Salt Lake posted 17 hits in the game, with Heaton going 3-of-4 at the plate to lead the Bruins. Bennett went 2-of-4 with a team-high five RBI's.
Nya Laing earned the victory in the pitching circle.Â

Salt Lake 16, Colorado Northwestern 1: SLCC scored 11 runs in the opening inning, powering to a run-rule victory.

Mackenzy Richins hit a two-run home run in the first inning to help power the Bruins to the early lead, part of the 15 hits that Salt Lake posted in the win.
Rylie Bennett was 2-of-2 with a pair of RBI's, while Richins also had two RBI's. Salt Lake had five players with multi-RBI games, with
Josee Haycock posting a team-high four RBI's.Â
