TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 6, 2021) – Another doubleheader Saturday ended in another doubleheader sweep for the No. 3 Salt Lake Community College softball team.

SLCC downed Colorado Northwestern by scores 15-3 Â and 27-0 in doubleheader action Saturday, finishing the series at 4-0. The Bruins are now 14-0 overall and a perfect 4-0 to start league play.

Salt Lake will host the College of Southern Idaho in home games next weekend.
Salt Lake 15, Colorado Northwestern 3: SLCC scored early-and-often, taking control in a run-rule victory.
Salt Lake scored three runs in the first inning, with a
Mackenzy Richins RBI triple in the second inning powering Salt Lake to a 7-1 lead.
Rylie Bennett hit a three-run home. run in the third inning to open the game up, with
Bailee Noland hitting a two-run double later in the inning.
Rylee Harris-Thorpe went 2-of-2 in the game to lead Salt Lake, while
Mercedes Call went 2-of-2.
Bailey Frischknecht threw five innings, allowing six hits and striking out five.
Salt Lake 27, Colorado Northwestern 0: SLCC scored each of the five innings, finishing with 22 hits.
Mercedes Call started things on the right note with a two-run home run in the first inning, powering to an 8-0 lead after the second inning.
Brylee Marziale-Hill hit a grand-slam home run in the fourth inning, with
Rylie Bennett following up with a three-run home run.
Call went 3-of-3 in the game, while Bennett finished 4-of-5 with 9 RBI's. Marziale-Hill finished with a win in the pitching circle.Â
