TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 5, 2021) – The No. 3 Salt Lake Community College softball team experienced a victorious start to Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday.

The Bruins earned a doubleheader sweep at Colorado Northwestern, earning a 20-2Â victory in game one and a 25-1Â win in game two. The victories place Salt Lake at 12-0 overall and 2-0 in Scenic West play.
Salt Lake will play Colorado Northwestern in another doubleheader on Saturday.
Salt Lake 20, Colorado Northwestern 2: The Bruins earned a run-rule victory in the day's first game.
SLCC took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, keying on a
Hola Nakayama two-run single.
Rylee Harris-Thorpe added a two-run home run in the second inning, with the Bruins scoring nine runs in the fourth inning to end the game.Â
Rylie Bennett finished the game at 3-3, while
Kaytlyn Cripps went 2-of-3 at the plate.
Hola Nakayama and
Savannah Heaton both finished 2-of-4 at the plate.
Nya Laing earned the pitching victory, throwing five innings of two-run ball from inside the circle.Â
Salt Lake 25, Colorado Northwestern 1: An 11-run second inning powered Salt Lake to another dominating win in game two.
Rylee Harris-Thorpe starting the offense in the first inning, using an RBI triple as SLCC took a 5-0 lead.
Kaytlyn Cripps hit a grand-slam home run in the second inning, whileÂ
Mackenzy Richins had a two-run double.
Bailee Noland had the last of Salt Lake's 23 hits in the game, finishing on an RBI single.Â
Savannah Montoya,
Mercedes Call and
Rylie Bennett all finished 3-of-3 at the plate. Cripps had a team-high four RBI's.
Alyssa Millemon took the pitching win, throwing eight strikeouts in five innings.Â
