TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 18, 2021) – The Salt Lake Community College baseball team returned to Cate Field for some home-cooking on Thursday, opening a four-game Scenic West Athletic Conference series with a victory.

SLCC earned a 10-1 win in the opener of a series with USU Eastern, utilizing strong pitching to pick up the victory. The Bruins are now 8-11 overall and 5-4 in Scenic West play with the win.
Salt Lake held a 2-0 lead after the first inning, thanks to a
Travis Johnson RBI single and an unearned run.
Dalton Hodge powered the scoring with a two-run double in the fifth inning, followed up by a two-run home run by
Jake Herman.
Karson Bodily also hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, later adding a two-run blast in the seventh inning to secure the run-rule victory.
SLCC had four players finish with multi-hit games, with Bodily leading the way with a 2-of-3 performance at the plate.
Fynn Chester earned the pitching win for Salt Lake, striking out eight USU Eastern batters while allowing one run in six innings.Â

Salt Lake will play a doubleheader with USU Eastern on Friday at Cate Field. The first game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
