TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 12, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of an in-state rival Thursday.
SLCC dropped a tough 68-67 game to in-state rival Snow College, falling on a last-second shot by Passion Reitz. The loss drops Salt Lake to 11-4 overall and 6-4 in Scenic West play.
After Snow took an early lead, the Bruins responded with a 19-7 run in the second quarter to power to a 36-26 halftime lead. SLCC held a 56-42 lead entering the final period before Snow went on an offensive tear, outscoring the Bruins by a margin of 26-11 in the period to lead to Reitz's game-winning shot with :01 left.
Aminata Diakite led Salt Lake with 21 points, while
Awa Sidibe scored 18 points.
Naelle Bernard also finished in double-figures, posting 12 points.
Salt Lake will continue their Scenic West weekend Saturday, hosting the College of Southern Nevada.Â
