TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 6, 2021) – Perfect was an apt adjective to describe the performance of the No. 20 Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team Saturday, both at a macro and micro level.
On the micro level, the Bruins picked up a 61-49 win over Eastern Wyoming College; on the macro level, SLCC completed a perfect 5-0 preseason. While Salt Lake trailed early, an offensive explosion in the second quarter lifted the team to a halftime lead and the win.
Eastern Wyoming started fast in the game, taking a 17-11 lead after a sluggish SLCC first quarter. The Bruins quickly responded with gusto in the second quarter, finishing with a 19-4 run that saw SLCC limit Eastern Wyoming to just 2-of-13 shooting in the quarter to take a 30-21 halftime lead.
Awa Sidibe and
Naelle Bernard both finished with 15 points for the Bruins. SLCC held a 25-4 advantage in points-off-turnovers and a 44-32 advantage in points-in-the-paint.
SLCC will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Tuesday with a game at 5:00 p.m. against the College of Southern Idaho. The game will be played inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
