TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 25, 2021) - A heroic comeback catapulted the No. 11 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team to a late victory over a Scenic West Athletic Conference rival in a game Thursday.
The Bruins, beginning a two-game road trip, opened with a narrow 70-68 win at the College of Southern Idaho, overcoming a late deficit to earn the victory. SLCC's record improves to 12-1 with the win, alongside a Scenic West mark of 5-1.
Salt Lake and Southern Idaho traded momentum back-and-forth throughout the game, with SLCC's largest lead coming early in the first quarter at 12 points. The Bruins held a 35-29 halftime lead before Southern Idaho vaulted to a 68-62 lead with 3:03 remaining. From there, the Bruins would close the game on an 8-0 run, with a
Marvin Price layup giving SLCC the game-winning points with :44 remaining.
Price had a team-high 18 points in the Salt Lake win on 7-of-14 shooting.
Felix Lemetti posted 16 points, while
Sam Hofman posted double-digits with 10 points.
Salt Lake will continue its road-swing this weekend, traveling to play at in-state rival USU Eastern in Price Saturday. The Bruins will return home on Wednesday, March 3, for a game with Colorado Northwestern Community College.Â
