No. 11 Bruins downed on last-second shot by in-state rival

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 27, 2021) – The No. 11 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team saw its winning streak stopped at five games, falling in a Scenic West Athletic Conference road game Saturday.
 
The Bruins fell on a last-second shot at in-state rival USU Eastern, losing 68-66. SLCC is now 12-2 overall and 5-2 in Scenic West play.

In a game that went back-and-forth, SLCC tied the game at 66-66 late the second half before USU Eastern hit the game-winning shot in two seconds. Salt Lake trailed by as many as 11 points with 4:25 remaining. 

The game saw five lead changes with neither team leading by more than 11 points. Salt Lake jumped out to a fast start, starting the game on a 9-0 run, but USU Eastern led 35-33 at halftime.

Jay Allen-Tovar led Salt Lake with 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Bendji Pierre finished with 11 points. 
 
Salt Lake will play a home-and-away series next week, hosting Colorado Northwestern at home Wednesday before traveling to play at Southern Nevada Saturday.
