TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 8, 2021) – Play in the Scenic West Athletic Conference opened for the Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team Wednesday, and with impressive results.
The Bruins earned a 63-50 win over the College of Southern Nevada to open its Scenic West Athletic Conference schedule, downing the undefeated Lady Coyotes in the process. Salt Lake is now 6-2 overall and 1-0 in Scenic West games.
SLCC jumped out to a 29-25 halftime lead, holding Southern Nevada to just 33.3 percent shooting in the first quarter (4-of-12). Depth made the difference for the Bruins in the game as Salt Lake outscored CSN in bench points (35-11). SLCC led by as many as 16 points late in the fourth quarter.
Naelle Bernard led Salt Lake with 17 points, while
Finau Tonga scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
Diarrah Sissoko also finished in double figures, notching 12 points.
Salt Lake will host Community Christian College inside the Lifetime Activities Center on Saturday. The game will tip at 1:00 p.m.
