TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 4, 2021) – So far in the 2021-22 season, there has been no storm the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team hasn't been able to ride out.
Saturday, the Bruins brought a thundering display of offense in the final game of the 'Bruin Classic', earning a 126-82 win over Central Wyoming. With the win, Salt Lake is now 10-0 overall.
For the second consecutive evening, SLCC offensively dominated a Wyoming opponent, with the Bruins taking a 64-31 lead at halftime. Salt Lake shot a crisp 61.5 percent in the first half (24-of-39), with Salt Lake leading by as many as 48 points late in the second half. Defense also played a role in the win, with the Bruins forcing 18 SLCC turnovers.
Salt Lake coach
Kyle Taylor said his team's offensive momentum has been suffocating.
"We did a nice job again tonight of speeding up the game and playing a high possession game," he said. "That definitely plays into our favor with the depth we have. I think we had eight guys in double figures last night and nine players tonight. This is a total team effort and a team win."
Jordan Brinson scored a team-high 20 points, also gathering 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Quincy McGriff went 6-of-8 from the floor, finishing with 18 points.
Doctor Bradley had 14 points,
Jaquan Scott posted 13 points and
Max Watson scored 12 points.
Jackson Last,
Chase Adams,
Marion Humphrey and
Tanner Cuff all finished in double-figures also.
Salt Lake will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play next week, facing off against the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
