TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 3, 2021) – The Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team returned from a Thanksgiving break in impression fashion, earning a strong win to open the non-conference 'Bruin Classic' tournament.
 
SLCC earned a 63-32 win over Northwest College after almost two weeks away from play, holding a dominant halftime lead and never looking back. The Bruins are now 4-2 overall with the win.
 
Salt Lake jumped on Northwest early, taking a 19-8 lead after the first quarter and a 37-14 lead at halftime. SLCC's defense was suffocating, holding Northwest to just 22.9 percent shooting (11-of-48) and forced 22 turnovers. 
 
Naelle Bernard scored 18 points to lead the Bruins, with 
Diarrah Sissoko posting 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. 
Hennessey Luu-Brown and 
Sephora Kayolo both scored 8 points.
 
The Bruins will play Central Wyoming at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. SLCC will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play on December 8.
