TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 22, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team will settle in for a figurative 'long winter's nap' in comfortable fashion, thanks to a resounding win over a nationally-ranked foe in a holiday tournament Wednesday.
SLCC picked up a 51-43 win over No. 13 Central Arizona in the final game of the 'CSN Holiday Tournament' in Las Vegas, extending Salt Lake's winning streak to 11 games. With the win, the Bruins are now 12-2 overall.
Salt Lake led early in the game, taking a 14-8 lead after the first quarter, and never looked back in the win. SLCC played outstanding defense throughout the game, limiting Central Arizona to just 21 percent shooting (13-of-62) and just a 5-of-23 performance from three-point range. The Bruins led by as many as 13 points midway through the fourth quarter.
Hennessey Luu-Brown led Salt Lake with 12 points, while
Naelle Bernard scored 10 points. SLCC had four players score 6 points apiece.
Salt Lake will now take a holiday break, returning to play Snow College on Jan. 6.Â
