No. 1 SLCC Men's Basketball powers past Laramie County

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 13, 2021) – A narrow halftime lead turned into a romping victory for the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team.

SLCC earned a 98-67 victory over Laramie County Community College to close out the 'Bruin Classic' Saturday, outscoring LCCC by a 61-34 margin in the second half. With the victory, Salt Lake is now 4-0 overall, with a mark of 1-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

""We started the game strong, but really didn't finish well at the end of the first half, letting Laramie County hang around," said SLCC coach Kyle Taylor. "Our defensive effort and intensity just wasn't there consistently all half. We had some great moments but didn't sustain it. The second half was much better."

The Bruins played lockdown defense in the second half, turning a tight 37-33 halftime lead into a strong victory. SLCC limited Laramie County to just 33.3 percent shooting in the second half (9-of-27), with LCCC hitting just 1-of-8 three-point shots. Salt Lake also forced 27 turnovers, scoring 41 points thanks to their defensive prowess.

Doctor Bradley once again keyed SLCC to victory, finishing with 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting. Four players for Salt Lake scored 11 points each – Chase Adams, Festus Ndumanya, Jordan Brinson, and Jaquan Scott. SLCC's bench posted 56 points in the victory.

"The first half was the Doctor Bradley show," noted Taylor. "He did a phenomenal job and really kept us in the game. The second half was a total team effort with five other players scoring in double figures. I thought Jackson Last really set the tone offensively driving to the rim and scoring to open the second half."

Salt Lake will travel next to a tournament in Texas, hosted by Odessa College. SLCC will start play on Wednesday with Midland College.
