TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 23, 2021) - Another day and another victory for the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team, thanks to another strong offensive performance by the Bruins.
SLCC moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 72-51 victory over Northwest College in a non-conference game Saturday inside the Lifetime Activities Center, taking a 22-11 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Salt Lake forced 23 Northwest turnovers in the game, scoring 24 points off those turnovers.
After holding a 31-24 halftime lead, the Bruins caught fire in the third quarter and outscored Northwest by a margin of 21-13, making 3-of-5 three-point shots. Additionally, SLCC's bench held a 31-15 scoring advantage over Northwest to power the team to a strong second-half.
Hennessy Lue-Brown finished with 18 points, while
Aminata Diakite posted 12 points for Salt Lake in the win.
Riley Frith was SLCC's other double-digit scorer, finishing with 10 points.
Salt Lake will play in a two-game tournament at Western Wyoming Community College next weekend.Â
