TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 5, 2020) – The No. 18 Salt Lake Community College baseball team opened a weekend series with a strong victory Thursday.

The Bruins, who are hosting regional rival College of Southern Idaho in a four-game series on the road, earned a 3-2 win to stay undefeated in league play. The win pushes SLCC's overall record to 18-3 and 5-0 in league play.
In a game that leaned heavily on pitching and defense, Bruins pitcher
Breck Eichelberger played a large role in the win by throwing seven scoreless innings and striking out four batters.
Blake Whiting earned the save with two strikeouts in the ninth inning.
Salt Lake took a 3-0 lead in the eighth inning before Southern Idaho came back to post two quick runs, cutting into the deficit. SLCC's
Jake Herman went 2-of-4 at the plate in the game, hitting a double and finishing with a pair of RBI's.Â

Salt Lake will play Southern Idaho in a doubleheader on Friday. The games will start at 1:00 p.m., with a game starting shortly after at 3:00 p.m.
