TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 6, 2020) -Â The No. 11 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team kept the good times rolling on Thursday at home, extending their lead in the Scenic West Athletic Conference even further.

SLCC picked up a 69-55Â win over in-state rival USU Eastern, moving to 8-0 in league play and maintaining a three-game lead over Snow in the league standings. SLCC's overall record improves to 22-4 with the win, alongside a league mark of 8-0.

Salt Lake held a 36-32 lead at halftime but locked down on the the Eagles defensively in the second half, holding USU Eastern to just 35.5 percent shooting and an 0-of-9 performance from distance. While SLCC wasn't much better on the floor, the Bruins had a successful time hitting from the foul line with a 12-of-18 performance at the line. Salt Lake also forced 16 turnovers in the game.

Kyle Taylor noted how his program kept its composure throughout the game.
"We battled tonight," he said. "The pace was slower, there weren't as many opportunities as we're used to, but we stayed with it. Down the stretch, our defense was terrific and we kept pushing it in transition when we had the chances."
Justice Hill finished with 16 points to lead Salt Lake, while
Tutu Majok posted 11 points.
Spencer Johnson scored 9 points.Â
Salt Lake will host Colorado Northwestern Community College inside the Lifetime Activities Center on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.Â
