No. 20 SLCC Baseball finishes CNCC in extra-innings win

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 29, 2020) – The No. 20 Salt Lake Community College baseball team perfectly finished its first Scenic West Athletic Conference series Saturday.
 
The Bruins downed Colorado Northwestern Community College by a score of 5-4, sweeping the weekend series in an extra-inning victory. Salt Lake's overall record is now 17-3 and 4-0 in Scenic West play.
 
CNCC jumped out to an early lead before the Bruins responded with three runs in the third inning to take the lead, extending the lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning. However, CNCC came back to score two runs in the seventh inning and then scored a single run in the ninth inning to send the game to extras. Salt Lake scored a run in the bottom of the eleventh inning to close the victory, with Cade Perkins hitting a walk-off home run to end the game. 
 
Cade Perkins and Gabe Singer both led the Bruins offensively, going 3-of-5. Perkins also contributed a pair of RBI's. Jake Wilson started the game, throwing seven innings and allowing just three runs while striking out six batters. Spencer Jones earned the pitching win in relief. 
 
Salt Lake will travel to play the College of Southern Idaho next weekend in a four-game series. The series will start Thursday, with a doubleheader on Friday.
