TAYLORSVILLE, Utah. (February 1, 2020) – The No. 13 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team stayed unbeaten in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Saturday, thanks to an impressive road win against a traditional power.

SLCC downed longtime rival Southern Idaho, 91-84, moving to 6-0 in road games. Salt Lake is now 21-4 overall and 7-0 in conference play with the win.

The Bruins opened up with a strong 50-37 halftime lead, shooting 51.5 percent in the first half (17-of-33). For a road game, SLCC shot as if it was a home game, making 10 three-point attempts. Salt Lake also pushed a 19-2 advantage in fast-break points.Â

Kyle Taylor said the road win was a good performance for a SLCC team that was fighting a myriad of adversities. .
"That was a terrific team win for us," he said. "We were short handed with guys home sick, and other guys stepped up.

Jay Allen-Tovar played great off the bench.
Asa McCord had a double-double for us, with six of our guys scoring in double figures. It was a great team win."
Popoola finished with 19 points to lead Salt Lake, going 5-of-6 from the field, while
Justice Hill posted 15 points.
Spencer Johnson scored 14 points, while
Asa McCord had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Jay Allen-Tovar scored 11 points, with
James Lee finishing with 10 points.

The Bruins will have a busy week next week, hosting USU Eastern on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Colorado Northwestern on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be played inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
