TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 16, 2019) - The Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team fell on "Sophomore Night" inside the Lifetime Activities Center, falling 96-87 to Snow College on Saturday.
Snow jumped out to an early lead, taking advantage of a hot-shooting night to take control of the game's momentum. The Badgers shot 61.1 percent from the field (22-of-36) in the first half, controlling the tempo and taking a 53-39 lead at halftime.
Salt Lake opened the second half on a strong run, cutting the deficit to 67-63 with 7:07 left in regulation after two
Matt Lindsey free-throws. However, Snow responded by upping the lead and maintaining an advantage throughout the remainder of the game. The Badgers led by as many as 19 points early in the second half.Â
Josh Colon led Salt Lake with 25 points, with
Hunter Schofield scoring 18 points.
Matt Lindsey had 16 points, while St. John's commit
Cameron Mack scored 13 points.Â
The loss drops Salt Lake's overall record to 19-8 and 6-5 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. SLCC is now two games behind first-place Snow in league standings, sitting just a single-game behind the College of Southern Idaho. Salt Lake is currently in solo third place in the league.
Salt Lake will close the regular season next Saturday at Colorado Northwestern, with the Region 18 tournament happening the following week at USU Eastern in Price.Â
