TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 21, 2019) - The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team earned a dominant victory Saturday, finishing a Southern Nevada tournament with a flash of momentum.
SLCC downed Dawson Community College, 84-51, in the finale to a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada at the CSN Sports Center in North Las Vegas. The win boosts Salt Lake's overall record to 11-4, with a winning streak that is now up to nine games.
Salt Lake had a 27-15 lead after the first quarter, leading for a majority of the game. Defensive intensity was once again a strength of the Bruins throughout the game, as SLCC held Dawson to just 26.4 percent shooting from the field and just 28 percent from three-point range. The Bruins scored 23 points off turnovers, also outscoring Dawson 48-14 in the paint.
Awa Sidibe led Salt Lake with 25 points, shooting 8-of-11 attempts from the field.
Ashley Scoggin scored 18 points and
Leichan Williams posted 12 points.Â
Salt Lake will return to the court on January 4 for a game against Colorado Northwestern Community College. The game will serve as the Scenic West Athletic Conference opener.Â
