No. 21 SLCC Men's Basketball back on winning track, downs Colorado Northwestern

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 24, 2019) - The No. 21 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team focused all week on what it would take to get back on the winning train, laboring through practice and film study.

Those efforts paid off for the Bruins Thursday inside the Lifetime Activities Center, with Salt Lake breaking a two-game losing streak by picking up a 102-85 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College. The win moves Salt Lake to 16-5 overall and 3-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Two impressive individual performances lifted Salt Lake throughout the night, with Matt Lindsey and St. John's commit Cameron Mack each posting career highlights. First, Lindsey scored a career-high 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including a 6-of-7 performance at the three-point line. Mack found his own history through all-around success, posting a triple-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists.

Salt Lake's strong individual performances helped the Bruins post a 52-38 lead, one where SLCC took an early 18-8 lead after a Lindsey layup. CNCC responded quickly with a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 20-17 midway through the first half before Lindsey responded with a personal 5-0 run to jumpstart Salt Lake's momentum once again.

Offense was the story of the game for Salt Lake, with the Bruins shooting a sizzling 64.1 percent from the field (41-of-64). SLCC finished with five double-digit scorers, including Lindsey, Mack, Hunter Schofield (16 points), Washington State commit Daron Henson (11 points) and Dimi Pandev (10 points).

Salt Lake will travel for a critical matchup at No. 20 Snow College on Saturday, in a game that could likely play a significant role in deciding the SWAC race. Snow defeated Salt Lake in their first matchup, 92-90. Saturday's game will tip at 5:00 p.m.

The Bruins will play their next home game on February 2, in scheduled league contest against the College of Southern Idaho.
