Bruins sweep second-ranked Southern Idaho in SWAC match

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 29, 2017) – The final Friday of September proved to be a T-G-I-F moment for 12th-ranked Salt Lake Community College volleyball, as the Bruins earned a clean sweep of the nation's second-ranked team.

Salt Lake earned a 3-0 win over College of Southern Idaho, getting a 29-27, 25-13, 25-17 win over the second-ranked Golden Eagles, who entered the match as the leaders in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. After a 1-1 weekend in the conference-opening weekend, the Bruins are now back in the race with the win.

The Bruins controlled the match by controlling the offensive tempo, holding an advantage of .348-.056 in hitting percentage and a 38-33 advantage in kills. Salt Lake also controlled the net, earning a 13-1 advantage in blocks.

To'a Faleao led SLCC in kills, contributing 15 kills to the tally. Laken Te'o did her part to keep the Bruins' offensive attack flowing with efficiency, earning 17 assists for Salt Lake. Callie Whitney finished with 14 digs.

The Bruins now sit at 15-4, with a record of 2-1 in Scenic West play. Salt Lake is now 9-2 at Bruin Arena.

Salt Lake Community College will play next Friday on the road, facing off against USU-Eastern on Friday and Colorado Northwestern on Saturday.
