Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (August 25, 2017) – A sweep of Friday's action gave the Salt Lake Community College Bruins a strong 3-0 record through two days of the 2017 Crystal Classic.

SLCC earned wins over both the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen and the Casper College Thunderbirds at Bruin Arena, allowing the Bruins to start the season 3-0. Salt Lake earned a 3-0 victory over the Plainsmen in a late afternoon match, finishing the match with scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-19.

Salt Lake had 38 kills in the match victory over Northeastern, finishing with a hitting percentage of .286. The Bruins were also successful in holding NJC from going on extended runs, controlling the tempo of the match with hitting, timely passing and control of the net. SLCC finished with 33 assists and 7 blocks.

Megan Treanor led the Bruins with ten kills, as offensive hitterÂ
Aubrie Steiner finished as the team leader in assists with 23.

The Bruins powered to a 3-0 victory over the Casper College Thunderbirds in their first match Friday at the Taylorsville Campus.

Salt Lake swept the match 25-15, 25-16, 25-17; giving the Bruins two sweeps to open the Crystal Classic. SLCC had another outstanding offensive performance, finishing with 36 kills in the action and a hitting percentage of .325.

The Bruins held the Thunderbirds to a negative hitting percentage, -.078, while also finishing with 11 blocks. Casper College struggled against the SLCC front line, finishing with 26 attack errors in the match.

Lauryn Ritchie led the Bruins with eight points scored in the match, finishing with six kills, four digs and a hitting percentage of .500. Outside hitterÂ
To'a Faleao finished with eight kills for SLCC, while liberoÂ
Alexus Desmarais had 14 digs.

The Bruins haven't lost a set in three matches, their best start since 2012. That season, Salt Lake didn't lose a set in its first four matches, sweeping their way to a victory in the Crystal "Inn"vitational.

Salt Lake Community College concludes the 2017 Crystal Classic on Saturday with a match against Western Wyoming Community College. The match is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside Bruin Arena.
