Megan Vera joined the SLCC women’s basketball coaching staff in 2026, bringing with her over 15 years of coaching experience and a strong reputation for developing high-level athletes and winning team cultures. Prior to SLCC, Vera served as a volunteer assistant at Westminster University for the 2025-2026 season. From 2013 to 2025, she was the head girls’ basketball coach at Grantsville High School where she led a remarkable program turnaround. Under her leadership, the Cowboys captured seven region championships and made eight state semifinal appearances in nine seasons, with Vera earning Region Coach of the Year honors seven times and compiling over 200 career wins. In addition to her high school coaching success, Vera has been coaching club basketball for 9 years. Her work at the club level has helped guide more than 30 athletes to collegiate basketball scholarships.
Vera earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion and Education atThe University of Utah. Her coaching philosophy centers around building confident, resilient players in a positive and demanding environment. She emphasizes defensive intensity, mental toughness, and team chemistry, while fostering a culture where athletes are encouraged to grow on and off the court.
