Cyndee Bennett enters her 13th season as head coach of the nationally-acclaimed Bruin Softball program in the 2025-26 academic year with an outstanding career record (495-130). Prior to becoming head coach, Bennett spent six seasons as an assistant with the program, primarily focusing on the Bruin pitching staff.
As an assistant at SLCC, Bennett won five SWAC titles, five Region-18 titles, and had three National Championship game appearances. As the head coach, she has won five SWAC titles, five Region-18 crowns, and has had one national championship game appearance.
In the 2025 season, SLCC softball took second place in SWAC play and second in the region tournament.
The Bruins had a banner year in 2021, going 52-4 while earning the Scenic West Athletic Conference and Region 18 crowns. SLCC's coaching staff also earned the NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year award in 2021.
Salt Lake claimed the Scenic West and Region 18 titles in 2019, finishing the year with an overall record of 47-8 and a mark of 36-4 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Along the way, the Bruins were ranked as high as No. 6 in the country.
The Bruins finished the 2017 season with a record of 51-8, going 36-2 in SWAC play. Salt Lake advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, earning a national runner-up finish.
In 2016, the Bruins racked up a stellar 48-9 overall record, resulting in a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship and a Region 18 Championship. Salt Lake went into the NJCAA Tournament as the No. 2 overall seed. The Bruins were defeated in the semifinals, finishing as the third-place team in the country.
Bennett taught at Olympus High School, and was the head coach of Olympus for six years before accepting the head coaching position at SLCC. She also coached at Viewmont High School from 1998-2003.
She was named Coach of the Year by the Utah High School Softball Coaches Association in 2002, 2003 and 2010. She also coached at the high school level in Las Vegas, coaching at Rancho High School from 2004-05 and at her alma mater of Glendale High School (CA) in 2006 and 2007.
Bennett has been a pitching coach in Utah, Nevada and California for the past 15 years, coaching many players who moved on to the collegiate softball ranks.
During her time at SLCC, Bennett has coached multiple NJCAA All-Americans. That list includes former Bruin ace MaCauley Flint, a two-time NJCAA First Team All-American, National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-American and 2013 Region 18 Pitcher-of-the-Year. Flint went on to pitch at Weber State University, leading the Wildcats to multiple Big Sky crowns.
In 2019, Bennett coached NJCAA All-America players Mallory Barber and Tarni Stepto. Bennett has also coached the likes of NJCAA First Team All-American Ariel Zimmerman, a standout pitcher who moved on to Southern Utah University. Several more NJCAA All-Americans have played under Coach Bennett, including shortstop Maddy Woodard (Second Team NJCAA All-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team 2013), outfielder Malia Campos (NJCAA First Team All-American 2012, NJCAA Second Team All-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team, NJCAA Most Outstanding Offensive Player 2013), and Cyd Allen (Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year, NJCAA First Team All-American 2010) among many others. Bennett's most recent All-American is infielder Ashlee Snyder, who earned multiple All-America honors and postseason awards.
She also coached her current assistant coach Tara Bendt (NJCAA First Team All-American 2008) and SLCC assistant Lindsey DeLeon.
Bennett played softball collegiately at the University of Utah, where she still owns several program records. She hails from Glendale, CA.
