Salt Lake Community College Bruins

Coach DG Nelson enters his 23rd year at the helm of the highly successful SLCC Baseball program. Salt Lake Baseball and Head Coach Nelson are coming off their best season in program history. The Bru Cru (48-11) won the 2025 JUCO World Series. On their road to the national championship, Salt Lake were the SWAC regular season champs, Region 18 champions, and West District Champions. 

As the head coach of Salt Lake, DG has a career record of (782-404). Nelson got his 700th win on February 26th, 2024. In his tenure SLCC Baseball have 2 SWAC Championships, 5 Region 18 Titles, and 1 JUCO World Series Championship. The Bruins have made two JUCO World Series appearances. 

Prior to joining SLCC as an assistant coach in 2000, Nelson was an assistant at Dixie State College, where he worked for current BYU coach Mike Littlewood. He also served as a hitting coach for the St. George Pioneerzz in 2002, and worked as a graduate assistant at Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1998 and 1999.
