Herriman, Utah- No. 7 Salt Lake (3-0) won 2-1 over Western Wyoming. It was a competitive game from start to finish and all three goals were scored in the second half.
Early in the second half the Bruins had a chance to break the tie, but the Mustangs keeper saved the penalty shot to keep it a 0-0 game. In the 65th minute Salt Lake scored the game's first goal as a corner kick from Seanna Harris got deflected, went off the bottom of the crossbar, and into the goal.
In the 75th minute Sara Briganti made several great moves and found Natalie Shober wide open to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes remaining. In the 78th minute the ball skipped off the turf and hit a Salt Lake defender's arm, triggering a penalty kick. Manaka Shindo saved the initial penalty but Makaydi Jenks tracked down her own blocked penalty in an instant, and scored for the Mustangs. GK Manaka Shindo made four saves for Salt Lake.
