Rangely, Colorado- Salt Lake baseball (26-12) split the day with CNCC (12-27). The wind played a big part in the doubleheader and pushed a lot of balls over the fence for both teams.
Salt Lake lost the first game of the day 12-11 as Jerry Stone walked it off with a solo shot in the seventh. It was a slugfest as CNCC hit six home runs and SLCC hit three home runs. The Spartans scored seven runs in the bottom of the first off RHP Colin Roos.
Salt Lake scored two or more runs in the final four innings of the game. The Bru Cru punched in two unearned runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game 11-11. C AJ Thomas, SS Drew Smith, and LF Lute Chavez all homered for Salt Lake in the loss. Those three Bruins and RF Willy Roberts all recorded two hits.
The Bruins won the second game of the day 15-8. Salt Lake jumped on CNCC with seven runs in the top of the first. 2B Gage Wareham hit a solo home run to start the scoring. Roberts got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in a run. AJ Thomas hit a two RBI double and DH Kade Gambill hit a three-run home run. CNCC got two back off a home run from Fabian Gaeta in the bottom of the first. Bruin 1B Kaden Hodson hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth and CNCC scored on a sac-fly in the bottom half of the inning making the score 10-3. Both teams scored runs in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning Gambill hit another three-run home run and Hodson added an RBI single in the seventh.
