SLCC Softball Sweep Snow College on Sophomore Weekend

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah- No. 25 SLCC Softball swept Snow College in four games in the Bruins final home series of the season. The Bruins have clinched second place in the SWAC standings. 

Salt Lake won game one 10-1 in five innings. Mataeya Trellert picked up the win as she struck out one batter, allowed six hits, and one unearned run. Every player in the Salt Lake lineup scored a run and the Bruins plated runs in every inning. 

Salt Lake won game two 9-1 in five innings. Paige Shumway hit a two RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to give the Bruins the win. Taylor Hagan pitched all five innings for Salt Lake and recorded the win. Hagan totaled two strikeouts, an unearned run, and three hits. Savannah Lewis led the Bruins going 3 for 3 with two runs scored and one RBI. 

SLCC won game three 7-2. Snow hit a two-run home run in the top of the first off Aubrie Hansen. That was the only hit Hansen allowed as she tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts. The Bruins scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to claim the lead. Taylor Lewis-Balzarini cleared the bases with a single in Salt Lake's big inning. Irma Medina hit a solo home run for Salt Lake in the second inning. 

The Bruins scored in every inning as they closed out Snow 11-3 in six innings. Taitumn Reynen led the Bruins going 3 for 3 with an RBI double and a run scored. Irma Medina added two runs and went 3 for 4. Hannah Barlow hit a two RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to end the game. Elliot Plewe pitched five innings and got the win for Salt Lake.

Salt Lake will finish the regular season with a four game series at North Idaho College on May 2nd and May 3rd.
