TAYLORSVILLE, Utah- (Thursday, January 23, 2025)- No. 24 Salt Lake Men's Basketball (15-6, 3-3) fell to No. 22 Southern Idaho (17-4, 5-1) in a wire-to-wire second half losing 86-81.
Sophomore Ethan Copeland scored 17 of his team-high 23 points in the first half for the Bruins. Salt Lake trailed CSI 45-42 at halftime.
With 2:43 left in a foul-filled second half, Salt Lake's Mason Bendinger scored to tie the game 78-78. CSI pulled away in crunch time going 8-8 from the line. 48 fouls were called in the game (30 in the second half).
Xavier Edmonds and Bendinger scored 16 points a piece for Salt Lake before fouling out. Edmonds recorded his seventh double-double of the season. Alvin Jackson III added 11 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals for the Bruins.
The Bruins struggled from the line going 16-28 on free-throws. CSI went 28-35 from the charity stripe. Amarco Doyle went 12-14 from the line and led the Golden Eagles with a game-high 27 points. Khayri Dunn followed with 22 points for CSI.
