TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Wednesday, May 8, 2024) - Freshman pitcher and designated player Shelbee Jones capped a five-time Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week regular season with Region 18 Tournament MVP honors after playing a major role in the fifth-ranked Bruins sweep through the 2024 Region 18 softball tournament.
Salt Lake opened the tournament with an 11-1 win over Utah State University Eastern on Monday before holding on to beat CSI 4-3 in the semifinals.Â
The Bruins secured the Region 18 title with a 20-5 blowout win over Southern Idaho in the championship game.Â

Shelbee Jones - SLCC (P/DP)
The former Bingham Miner started all three games in the circle for SLCC, going 3-0 with two complete games against CSI. In 17 innings, Jones scattered nine hits and seven runs while striking out 33 batters.Â
At the plate, the University of Utah commit went 7-9 (.777 BA) with four home runs, seven RBI, and five runs scored. Jones reached base ten times in 12 plate appearances.

Snow:
Hailey Mangum - The freshman infielder from Payson, Utah was 5-9 (.555) with three homers, four RBI, and three runs scored.
CSI:
Tessa Hokansen - The sophomore infielder went 7-13 (.538) with three home runs, 10 RBI, and five runs scored to lead the Golden Eagles I all three categories.Â
Kenzee Hale - The sophomore from Providence, Utah went 3-11 (.273) with an home run, three RBI, and three walks in the tournament.Â
Tasha Hokanson - The sophomore from Herman, Utah went 3-7 (.429) with a homer, four RBI and four runs scored.Â
SLCC:Â
Kendyl Purdy - The sophomore from Weber, Utah was 7-9 (.777) at the top of the Bruin lineup with four doubles, six runs scored, and four RBI.Â
Miranda Mansfield - The former Clearfield Falcon went 3-11 (.273) while starting every game at shortstop for SLCC. Mansfield had two doubles, scored a run, and drove in two across three games.Â
Bailey Marvin - The Utah Valley University commit was 3-10 (.300) with a homer, three RBI, and four runs scored while plying a strong first base for the Bruins.Â
Jettlee Ioane - The Maple Mountain freshman was 6-11 (.545) at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in three with a double and walk.
Kylee Ruesch - The freshman catcher went 5-8 (.625) with two home runs, six RBI, three runs, and a pair of doubles.Â
