TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Saturday, March 16, 2024)— A fourth-quarter cold spell turned a six-point second-half lead into a tough-to-stomach 60-58 loss for the top-seeded Bruins against four-seed USU Eastern.
Heaven Samayoa-Mathis led No. 18 Salt Lake with 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Mia Tarver added nine points and four rebounds, along with two of the Bruins' 13 steals.
Salt Lake missed its first ten shots of the final period, allowing the Eagles to turn a tie game into a 54-45 lead. SLCC cut the lead to one twice down the stretch but couldn't complete the comeback.
USU Eastern advances to face CSI in the Region 18 Championship game on Saturday, March 16, at Bruin Arena.
